Yup, still alive but not knitting as much these days. Thought you might be interested in making one of these hats if you are of a like-mind. Lots of patterns available, but this one is super easy, super fast and doesn't require a ribber or garter carriage. In case you didn't know, this is the background/history of these hats. They have become widely used in my state of Minnesota to show opposition to the atrocities happening here.

- It was worn by members of the Norwegian Home Front, who opposed Nazi occupation.
- The color red represented courage and solidarity among resistance fighters.

I used Nomis
acrylic yarn, any similar works
T 8 7 st and 9 rows = 1 inch standard gauge machine
The cuff is
4 layers when folded, nice and warm for MN winter.
Small
(medium, large) You may need to
experiment for size. Pictured is size large
1. Cast on with contrasting color waste
yarn 60-0-60 (62-0-62, 64-0-64) needles
and knit a few rows.
2. Change to main, red yarn. RC 000. Knit
to RC 100 (104, 106) about 11-12”
3. Hang a hem on every needle.
4. RC 000, Knit to RC 68 (70, 72) about
8”
5. Decrease by half, knit 2 rows. Repeat.
6. Draw up on long piece of yarn, cinch
closed and sew seam. Remove waste yarn
7. Tassel: icord 3-4 inches or just knit
5 st at T 5 for 3 inches. (it forms itself into a tube, therefore faster). Make a fringe, attach to bottom of tube. Insert into top of hat and secure on the
inside by attaching to the side seam
