Twisted Headbands for Babies

With this self-imposed quarantine, I have been getting a lot of sewing and knitting done.  I do wonder what people who have no hobbies are doing to keep themselves occupied.  I confess I also have watched a ton of movies and Youtube tutorials.
Since I am doing baby things for charity this year, I wanted to do some twisted headbands.  Cute or what!
These are all 1 x 1 rib on the standard gauge machine.  I started small (30 st x 70 rows) and for the succeeding ones added a few stitches and rows each time.  This is really skinny yarn, so I had to use T 4/3.   The smallest is 9" in circumference and the largest is 12" in circumference.  Probably premie to newborn.  They are nice and stretchy.
(The scanner let in some light on the left side---no variation in color in real life.)
These go sooooooooo fast.  I made these 4 in about an hour and then sewed the ends together while watching MONK.  (Must have not been aware of the series when it first came out on tv.)  I get a kick out of that actor.  He does a great job.  Wonder how many people can relate on some level.  I think we all have our oddities.
Anyway, if you do some charity knitting, I recommend doing these twisted headbands.  Very cute on babies.

Very nice. I’d like to make one (a few?) for my 15 month old granddaughter. If your largest maybe fits a newborn, I’d need to go larger.
Do you remember how many stitches and rows the largest was?

I’m going to use Woollike from Loops and Threads to match her sweater. I knit the sweater T7 for 30 s and 40 or tension.
T2 on rib was not that tight, so I’m hoping I can get it tight enough, or use two threads?

Thanks for the basic pattern!

I couldn't even venture a guess as to how many stitches and rows you would need for the headband. Too many variables. I would just go ahead and make one. If it's too small or too big, just adjust. They go so fast it's not a big deal. If you still have enough yarn, you're ok. If not, you can unravel it. Would like to see a picture when you are done.

Just to follow up. I used my Woollike (fingering)
T1/1
20 stitches and 125 rows. Looks good. I didn’t want a headband so much as a hair and.
I will make a few more adding 10 or so rows each just to make sure one will fit her!

Thank you for the staring point!

I used Tanya Cunningham's free downloadable directions. She goes by Itmakesyousmile on Ravelry. This link might work:

a little hard to get the hang of at first but once you get one done, the next is easy.

Ooh thanks for the inspiration! I think i will try to do this by doing tubular knitting and then dewing it together?? It might work with some of the hand dyed yarn I have just made.
Thanks again from New Zealand.
