Still among the living...

I'm baaaaaaack! (Loved that movie, Independence Day.) Hard to believe I've neglected my blog for months. I do have excuses, though. The main one is that over the period of time of my absence, I knit too much. I did complete the 65 charity items goal I set for myself in 2011. Hats, headbands, scarves, slippers, baby stuff. Doesn't look like much in the photo, but trust me, it was A LOT of knitting. Then there was a craft fair I entered. 128 items... besides stuff for my new grandson. My estimate is that I knit 74,000 yards, probably 20+ cones got used up. I needed a break.

The beautiful baby Luca arrived a month early, so was quite tiny (6 lbs.) but in perfect shape. He didn't require any intervention from the neonatal unit. I stayed with my daughter for a month to help out. She got an infected c-section incision so it was a bit of a struggle for a while. All is well now, though, and what a gem he is. I've joined the ranks of the crazed grandmas. Isn't he beautiful?
Seven weeks old tomorrow. Most of the stuff I sewed and knit for him doesn't fit yet, but that's ok. He's growing. I get to see him again at Christmas and I'm soooooooo excited about that.

I received an email yesterday from Angela who has knit 12 pairs of my Fuzzy Feet slipper pattern.
She gave away 2 pairs before this photo was taken, but isn't this cute?
They range in size from 5-6 child to 12 adult. She felt she should have taken out stock in Lion Brand Fun Fur before making these! The original pattern was in Knitwords Winter 2005, but if you don't have that issue, you can purchase the slipper pattern from me here. (Don't know if Mary Anne has any copies left of this issue.) I revised the pattern a little and added a few hints. They are really easy and fast to make on a basic bulky machine, a good project for a beginner. No shaping or patterning is required. Oh, and they are felted, made with one strand of wool and one of fun fur.

So, that's it for today. Probably will return to a better blogging schedule now. Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving holiday.

He's beautiful, Mar!

You've got me wanting to try that fun fur pattern. I have some leftover glittery fun fur. I'll have to dig through my Knitwords for that one.
