Here's a Norwegian baby sweater I just designed. It could be for a baby boy or girl depending on the colors you use, perhaps, although most colors go for either. It's a really fast knit since the front and back are rectangles with no shaping. Made on the standard gauge machine with a ribber or garter carriage, sized to fit 6 months to 1 year. You could almost get it done the day before the shower! Designaknit file is included, although you could enter the design into your machine by other means. Graphs are included. I knit it with Tamm Bebe, and although I'm generally opposed to acrylic yarn, this one is nice and soft and looks good. Easy care, for sure. You can purchase the pattern for $4.50 through PayPal below. I wish I could show it to you on a real baby, but that will have to wait for the model to appear... another 4 months or so!

Beautiful!
Thank you, Ledra!
Lovely traditional Norwegian sweater, Mar!
Babies and mothers love them for a good reason - the sweater can be pulled off downwards from a sleeping baby, and the patterning is very forgiving for stains, and they are so quick to knit.
Mary, I never thought of pulling the sweater downwards rather than over the head. Good idea!
Some mistakes you make only once!
Do you know the hand signals for babies and toddlers?
If you try to wake them while they are sleeping, and they spread all their fingers out, they are in the sleep phase that is deepest. Wake them during this phase and they rarely get back to sleep, but can't relax either. Cranky, crying baby. Stressed mother. Seriously!
To avoid all this, gently pull the sweater down the body, and wait an hour to wake them up!
I've never seen anyone else do it, but it was my way of undressing DD when she finally got to sleep, but became a bit too warm.
