I can't think of a clever name for this purse. It reminds me of a "satchel" since it turned out to be roomy and has a "satchel" kind of look to it. It was fun to make and I was able to use up some of the worsted weight wool yarn I have accumulated. I used a midgauge machine, but any machine could be used. If knitting with a bulky machine, you could multiply the stitches and rows in the directions by approximately 80% or if using a standard, you could multiply the stitches and rows by about 140 %. The finished size is 14" high by 20" wide. The construction is sew as you knit --- even the side gussets---, so there isn't a lot of hand work involved. I liked the multi colored effect, but next time I might make it checkerboard with just two colors. Beads are used for the I cords at the sides and front closure---added to give it a little extra funkiness.
I found some hand dyed cotton that seemed to make a perfect lining. I added some stitching to make pockets as organizers, because I'm always losing my pens, cell phone, credit cards, etc. in the mess I seem to carry around with me. The monogram added a nice touch, I thought!
